Knockhill, 13/08 - This past weekend marked a new chapter for Nelson King, who took on Round 5 of the Mini Challenge at Knockhill Circuit as part of the Laser Tools Racing team for the first time. Despite this being his inaugural outing at the challenging Scottish venue, Nelson delivered an extraordinary performance, securing a 2nd-place finish in both qualifying and Race One, and continued the streak in Race Two.
“Joining Laser Tools Racing has been a thrilling opportunity for me,” said Nelson. “This was my first time at Knockhill Circuit, but the team gave me all the support I needed to adapt quickly. We managed to nail the setup, and it showed in the results.”
In a field comprised of seasoned competitors, Nelson stunned the audience with his swift adjustment to the Knockhill Circuit. After bagging the 2nd place in qualifying, he went on to prove his mettle by maintaining the same position in Race One and Race Two.
However, despite the strong performance, the weekend didn’t end on a high note for the MotorsportUK Academy driver. In a turn of events, Race Three saw him involved in an unavoidable contact with another driver, leading to a non-finish for the promising talent.
“Race Three was unfortunate, but that’s motorsport for you,” Nelson said philosophically. “We had a strong car, and I'm confident we would've been in contention for another podium finish. It's a minor setback, but we're already looking forward to the next race.”
Nelson extended heartfelt thanks to everyone involved, saying;
"Running in the Laser Tools Racing colours for the first time has been an absolutely amazing experience. To bring home two podium finishes on my debut with my new title sponsor is just incredible. I also want to extend heartfelt thanks to all the fans, family, and friends who came out to support me; your presence elevated this into a truly unforgettable milestone in my career."
As he sets his sights on the upcoming round, this first event with Laser Tools Racing has undoubtedly set the stage for a promising partnership for the remaining rounds of the season. The synergy between Nelson and his new team, coupled with his undeniable talent, spells an exciting future ahead.
