Nelson King Clinches Third Overall in a Thrilling Finale

The grand finale of the 2023 Vertu Motors Mini Challenge JCW Championship at Brands Hatch was new territory for Nelson King, who had never driven the Brands Hatch GP circuit before. With only eight complete laps in testing, Nelson went into the qualifying round blind, a circumstance that would test the mettle of any racer. A violent snap sent him into the gravel trap, causing a P12 start.

Nelson's first race on the Brands Hatch GP circuit was about understanding the track and making the most of a sub-optimal car setup. He skilfully manoeuvred through the pack, climbing two positions to finish 10th.

The second race was a testament to Nelson's quick adaptation and sheer will. Despite starting 10th, he capitalized on a mishap involving his championship rival, moving up the ranks to finish 6th.

In the final race, Nelson displayed remarkable skill and control. Starting 6th, he fought his way up to 4th, eyeing the championship podium. The drama peaked on the last lap when a tyre explosion threatened his championship hopes. However, Nelson's indomitable spirit shone through as he managed to limp his car across the finish line, securing the much-needed points for a P3 overall finish.

This remarkable achievement was not a solitary endeavour. A huge appreciation goes to Graves Motorsport for their relentless support and hard work throughout the season. Our journey was enriched by the help of our devoted sponsors - Laser Tools Racing, BHRV, CYB Glassfibre, Block and Clever, Walero, Jon Paul, and First Business Finance. Their backing was a cornerstone of Nelson's success, making this season's triumph a shared celebration.

Nelson's rookie season has been a captivating narrative of growth, determination, and the unyielding spirit of a true racer. His P3 overall is not just a position; it's a narrative of a young racer's fortitude amidst motorsport's unpredictable, exhilarating world.
