Steady Progression and Resilience on Display: Nelson King at Oulton Park

In only his second visit to the challenging Oulton Park circuit, Nelson King demonstrated true grit and determination at this weekend's round of the Mini Challenge. With his first exposure to the circuit being just a week earlier during testing, Nelson had a steep learning curve ahead.

After a successful test day where the team fine-tuned the car, Nelson was well-prepared for the qualifying session. A strategic decision to forgo a second run on new tyres saw him securing a solid P6 start position for race one.

Race one began with Nelson holding steady in P6. Following a safety car intervention, Nelson seized the opportunity to gain ground, advancing to P5 where he stayed until the chequered flag fell. The reverse grid draw for race two placed Nelson in a promising P2 start position.

The start of the second race saw Nelson momentarily drop to P3. Despite fierce pressure from Joe Tanner, Nelson defended tenaciously, maintaining his podium position. Capitalizing on a battle between the front-runners, Nelson executed a daring outside move at turn one to reclaim P2. Unfortunately, due to overheating issues with the car, Nelson wasn't able to challenge for the lead, settling for a respectable P2 finish.

This weekend's performance resulted in a valuable points haul for Nelson. With momentum on his side, he is eagerly preparing for the next round at Knockhill on the 12th of August, aiming to continue his progression and fight for higher honours. Stay tuned!
